"God writes straight with crooked lines"

I’m Kyran Kinlan, a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist based in the Southwest. My work spans independent film, advertising, music videos, and design - always driven by a fascination with storytelling that feels honest, human, and a little imperfect.
Crooked Lines began as an idea for my own creative studio, but over time it’s become more like a philosophy for how I approach making things. I’ve learned that neither life nor creativity ever moves in a straight line. The twists, turns, and accidents along the way are what give a story its texture, and they’re what I try to hold onto in my work.
Whether I’m shooting a short film, developing a brand identity, or crafting a piece of visual storytelling, I’m drawn to projects that feel rooted in emotion and authenticity. I often draw inspiration from the landscapes of the Jurassic Coast, where I grew up, exploring how memory, identity, and place shape who we are. Nostalgia and heritage thread through much of my work, expressed through experimental, tactile processes, - from analog film and mixed media to digital design and haptic storytelling.
For me, Crooked Lines is both a name and a mindset: embracing chaos, trusting the process, and following the unpredictable path where creativity actually happens. I hope you like my work.
