Chippel Bay is the upcoming graduate film from director and writer Kyran Kinlan.
It tells the story of two estranged brothers, Otis and Edward, who find themselves mysteriously marooned on a dreamlike version of the beach they once knew as children. To find their way home, they must confront the emotional distance that has grown between them over the years. But as tensions rise, one brother carries a hidden truth that could either mend their bond - or break it completely.
It's a narrative close to my heart, heavily inspired, very dependent and all incapsulating of the south-west where I have been lucky enough to grow up. The journey in getting Chippel Bay airtight has been undeniably long, but now with the edit finally completed, hopefully the film will soon be out there for you all to enjoy - and especially the cast who have worked so hard and been so patient.
After a successful test screening at the University of Bristol Graduate Film Festival, Chippel Bay is now undergoing a festival run, recently achieving its first selection at the Sunday Shorts film festival. We're all hopeful for further success.
